Penguin Classics (Orange Covers)

Postby Christopher on Mon Aug 10, 2009 10:11 pm

I realise that the orange cover of the Penguin Classics books were the original covers.

However, it is my understanding that Penguin reintroduced these covers onto their Penguin Classics books recently (maybe in the last few years?), but now I think they've changed it again.

Does anyone know of anywhere (preferably uk-based too) where you can buy new copies of these books?

THANK YOU.

I've no idea what you're talking about, but I buy most of my books on Amazon. They usually have the new and old versions on there, and most of the time they're cheaper than in the shops too.

I haven't seen those covers in ages. I know Penguin still uses orange in their style for the classics, but I haven't seen anything about the old covers. Though maybe it's different in the UK?

Yeah, I only ever see the orange on the spine, and a bit in the corner of the cover lately.

I swear that they were relaunched recently. There was a period of time where there were penguin mugs, phone holders, deck chairs which all featured the famous cover, and I'm sure it was as a result of the cover being relaunched - perhaps I made all that up, though.

If I can't get hold of them, I think I might buy these:

That is so weird... from a publishing perspective, that is :P

Apparently, there's a shop in St Andrews which stocks these. I'll have to wait until September to find out, though. EXCITED.

A co-worker just shared this with me, and I simply had to pass along the good news.

Unfortunately they're only in Australia right now, but hopefully they'll venture overseas...
